*Govert (or Govaert) Teunisz. Flinck (Kleef, 25 January 1615 - Amsterdam, 2 February 1660) was a Dutch painter of mainly portraits, historical works and genre pieces. He was one of Rembrandt's most famous pupils, from about 1633 to 1636. Initially his work was mistaken for a Rembrandt and even sold, but in the 1640s Flinck developed his own classicist style of painting, more in keeping with contemporary tastes.
