LEIDSEGRACHT:
The Leidsegracht is a transverse canal in Amsterdam-Centrum, connecting the Herengracht, Keizersgracht, Prinsengracht and Lijnbaansgracht and emptying into the Singelgracht at Marnixstraat. The Leidsegracht is part of the Treaty of Amsterdam and marks the boundary between the first and second phases of the construction of the Canal District. Between 1615 and 1658, the Leidsegracht was the city's southern limit. The canal was given its name in 1658 and was named after the city of Leiden. Almost all canal houses and former warehouses along this canal are private homes these days.
